Endometriosis is a common condition that can cause pain and difficulty getting pregnant.

The endometrium is the inner lining of the uterus (womb). In people with endometriosis, cells normally found in the endometrium grow outside of the uterus causing bleeding and inflammation during your cycle. The most common places where endometriosis occurs are the ovaries, the fallopian tubes, the bowel (large intestine), and the areas in front, behind, and to the sides of the uterus.
